COVID-19 FAQs
(Last Updated May 24, 2021)
We will continue to evaluate and update the details of each category and make any additional changes according to CDC or local guidelines and regulations. These guidelines are changing daily and will be adjusted accordingly.
Please continue to join us in prayer for every camper, staff member, volunteer, family, and church partner who will be a part of Wisconsin Christian Youth Camp this year!
What if l already had a COVID-19 vaccination?
Prior to arrival, everyone attending camp (campers, leaders, volunteers) is required to have a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours (3 days) of arrival OR a completed vaccination series two weeks before the start of camp.
What if I could not get an appointment for a test, or no self-tests were available?
Many free COVID-19 test locations still exist. You can use the following site to find a facility near you. https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/community-testing.htm. You may also find rapid tests available at most Walgreens, CVS, and Walmart stores or contact t your local health department, physician, or clinic. Please plan ahead and contact your session director if additional help is needed.
What if the individual is attending more than one camp session as a camper or volunteer, and they are not concurrent?
They will be required to have a negative COVID-19 test for each camp session they are attending within 72 hours prior to arrival unless they have a completed vaccination.
What if the individual attending already had COVID-19?
They will be required to have a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours (3 days) prior to arrival, or a completed vaccination. Campers and staff who have had a positive viral test in the 3 months prior to starting camp and have met the criteria to end isolation should have a letter from their healthcare provider documenting the positive test date and stating the individual is cleared to end isolation.
Will masks be required/provided while at camp?
Yes and No. We anticipate that the first three days of camp will maintain safe distancing and at times mask wearing until our “safe community” can be validated. However, while our efforts will be to assure we have healthy campers and staff coming to camp which will allow individuals to be without their mask and remain safe, these requirements may change depending on situations and will be addressed on an as-needed basis. Directors and medical staff will inform campers/staff when masking is required. Some sessions may provide some masks, but due to possible changes of circumstance, we recommend bringing at least one clean mask for each day of camp.
Can I come visit during camp?
In short, no. Visitors will be extremely limited to preserve the camp “bubble.” The session director will thoughtfully consider the ramifications before granting permission to any visitor.
May I send my son or daughter a package?
Yes. The sending of mail and packages are encouraged and will not be restricted. As always, when food is included in a package, the canteen person will keep the food for use during canteen time each day.
If I show COVID-19 symptoms while at camp, will I have to be sent home?
Based on current COVID status quo, if a camper or staff is experiencing two or more COVID symptoms (as determined by the licensed nurse on staff), they will receive a rapid COVID-19 test. If a camper or staff tests positive for COVID 19, they will then be quarantined for a 3 hour period time after which they will then be given a second rapid COVID-19 test. If the second test is also positive, they will be sent home.
What if I can’t find a free COVID-19 testing site?
Each camper and staff member must show verification of a negative COVID-19 test from within 3 days prior to their arrival to camp. We do not want to create any obstacle that would prevent you from coming to camp, so if you cannot meet this requirement for any reason, please contact us via email at communications@wcyc.org
Will there be singing at camp this summer?
Yes. Singing is an integral part of WCYC summer sessions.
